Vagabond Drifter - Accessories
Another great wedge camper option is the Vagabond Drifter, made in Benicia, Ca, just 90 miles up the road from us. We've developed some functional products for them as well and love their build quality.
Handcrafted in Santa Cruz, not outsourced. Current production time is about 3-4 weeks. Fits the Drifter (not Nomad, yet...)
Window Covers: Add privacy and help regulate the temperature inside the camper. Using water-resistant nylon with a DWR-coating (will not trap condensation), Low-E insulation (aluminum creates a thermal barrier) and high quality rare neodymium magnets, these insulated window covers create a clean and stealth appearance. All covers are magnetic and install in seconds. They will not move or fall down, while driving or if you slam the hatch. Storage bags are included on all orders.
Fit: Both covers are magnetic, but require our adhesive steel strips on the aluminum frames. The one-time installation of the strips takes about 5 minutes and instructions are included.
Colors: Foliage or Black. Black fabric always faces out, but you choose in the interior-facing color. The insulation we use allows us to keep the black fabric on the exterior, you can read about the insulation below.
Fan Covers: They come with instructions to install thin steel strips on the backside of the fan trim piece via 3M VHB clear adhesive tape. They do not interfere with the trim piece sitting flush against any roof surface. The covers have large magnets sewn in and attach to the outside of the plastic trim. Will fit both Maxxair and Fantastic Fans.
Low-E insulation: USA-made, mold-proof and waterproof, light weight, non-toxic, no fiberglass, great thermal performance and manufactured using a polyethylene foam core with reinforced double sided aluminum facings. Creates an excellent thermal barrier. See how they rate their insulation performance and learn about Low-E.
Rare earth magnets: We use high quality grade 42 magnets. We use around 12 magnets in each rear hatch cover. They are very powerful.
Bug Screens: Rear Hatch- Do you have the old or new rear interior light? Old= small black headlamp style. New= Long and thin white/amber tube style. Made to fit the Drifter on 2nd/3rd Gen. Tacomas. The screen snaps to the top of the aluminum tubing where the rear interior light is mounted, while the lower sides use magnets to attach to the steel bed. The screen is split and also uses various magnets to close up. Plastic rods at the bottom creates a taught fit and the two halves can be rolled up and secured with the two fixed velcro straps. Tailgate can be closed with the screen down. Included in the kit is the stainless snap screws with directions for install (takes about 15 minutes to install the snap screws, then about 30 seconds to put the screen up). Made from a very tough vinyl coated screen with holes small enough to not let No See Ums in.
Questions?: If you have questions about the product, feel free to email or call us. We have plans to offer window covers/bug screens for the glass windoors and a bug screen for the Front Runner Gull Wings.
